Pumpkin
Cucurbita pepo
The Sugar Pie Pumpkin (often called the "New England Pie Pumpkin") is the gold standard for baking and cooking. While those giant "Jack-o'-lantern" pumpkins are great for carving, their flesh is often stringy and watery. The Sugar Pie, however, stays small (2β4 lbs) and is prized for its fine-grained, intensely sweet, and bright orange flesh.
